The details

A VPN comes in handy when you want to improve your privacy online. It’s a bonus if the VPN provider allows simultaneous connections and IPVanish is one such VPN. It has an impressive collection of servers and allows up to ten simultaneous connections.

Speed is a common issue when using VPNs because the data is travelling farther to connect to a remote server. However, the speed loss should be insignificant and support a flawless experience.

IPVanish speed picks up significantly when using IKEv2 protocol achieving download speeds of 150-200 Mbps. When connected to a server in the US the speed is even higher as it clocks a cool 210-230 Mbps. This is more than enough speed to operate many applications.

While there’s little documentation about the company’s privacy plans, our test shows IPVanish does a pretty good job at protecting its customers. It uses AES-256 encryption (the industry standard) and supports secure protocols like IKEv2 and OpenVPN. What’s more, you can control the OpenVPN setup to reduce the chances of getting detected in anti-VPN jurisdictions.

Ease of Use

What stands out about IPVanish is its zero-log policy. The premise is to keep the user’s identity, web traffic, connection, and activity data under wraps. While the feature provides some kind of reassurance to users, the company’s lack of an external audit on their systems raises eyebrows. As for its interface, we found it pretty easy for beginners to use.

Value for money? Not so much. IPVanish is certainly cheaper than other paid VPNs but you’d be hard-pressed to find anything special about its plans. While it offers three pricing plans we found few features on IPVanish apart from basic VPN protection.

The monthly option costs $10.00, the quarterly plan costs $26.99, and the annual plan costs $77.99. You can also take advantage of its occasional discounts and special deals.

Other Features

  • Device Compatibility: You can configure any device to use IPVanish. It has native apps for iOS, Android, Windows, Chromebooks, and Linux Operating Systems hence an incredibly versatile VPN
  • Customer Support: With a live chat service, IPVanish customer support is available 24/7. You can also contact the customer agents via email
  • Streaming Sites Unblocked: IPVanish unblocks only two streaming sites- Netflix and Disney+. This is somewhat disappointing considering its price

Final verdict

IPVanish is a great pick if looking for a VPN that supports a range of devices. Its affordable price and access to numerous servers also make it a great average pick. However if looking for additional features, you’ll be disappointed.
