The details

LG OLED (organic light-emitting diode) displays are a fan favorite, and it’s easy to see why. Contrary to conventional LCDs, these ones don’t require a distinct back light to illuminate the image.

This is because the organic pixels automatically emit their distinct light once enabled. This results in premium picture quality without any blurs. Want to enjoy such perks? Check out the LG OLED65CXPUA.

Design

The LG CX OLED comes with a 65-inch big screen that is about ¼-inch thick. According to the official specifications, the panel is about 1.8 inches thick, and this takes into account the space that accommodates all the ports and audio components.

When it comes to mounting, you can choose one of two routes. One, you can use the wedge-shaped table top stand that provides a pretty sturdy platform. Or, you can mount it on a wall using the typical VESA 300 x 200 bracket.

Features

One thing we really liked about LG CX OLED entails the stellar quality of its pictures. It’s able to retain this high quality regardless of whether it’s displaying SDR, HDR or 4K content.

It showcases deep and bright, but they’re also subtle and well-balanced. The contrast is pretty good too thanks to OLED’s capability to have each single pixel generate its own light.

The filmmaker mode, which is one of the latest additions to the LG CX OLED model, is a superb addition. What this does is to automatically disable picture processing features such as image sharpening and smoothing. Thanks to these, the resulting images look more natural and lifelike.

Also worth mentioning is the LG CX remote control included. Dubbed LG’s magic remote, it has a pretty unique operating mechanism. Instead of pressing the cursor buttons, you can simply point in the direction of the onscreen menu options and navigate the menus.

Ease of use

As you might expect from a tv of its calibre, the LG CX is well-equipped with all the necessary ports for seamless connection.

On its rear, you’ll find at least 4 HDMI 2.1 ports and three additional USB 2.0 ports. If you’re planning to use antique video devices, you’ll appreciate the single plug that includes a composite video adapter dongle.

The TV also comes with an Ethernet port, enabling you to connect it to your home’s network via an ethernet cable; hence, stream your favorite channels. For the cordcutters, you’ll be pleased to learn that it also includes an RF coaxial plug, handy for an antenna.

Value

If you don’t mind splurging on a high-end TV, then the LG CX TV is a pretty decent offering.

It may cost a fortune, but it lets you enjoy advanced features that you’re not likely to find in entry level models. These include an OLED display, LG’s ThinQ AI platform, ultra-slim design, and more.

Final verdict

The LG CX is designed for homeowners interested in sophisticated features. With this TV you’ll never encounter common problems you get from using cheap models like blurred images and poor connectivity. Instead, you get a host of high-end features that are sure to improve your viewing experience.
