The details
If planning to replace your old coffee maker, this model from Mr. Coffee is a pretty solid buy. It’s simple, affordable, and equipped with basic coffee-making features. Also, the pot is large enough to brew 12 cups of coffee.
Coffee taste
Overall, this coffee maker brews some pretty decent coffee, but it’s not as rich as we’d like it. This is because it doesn’t attain the perfect brewing temperature. During our tests, we realized it attained temperatures of 170-180°F, a far cry from 195-205°F degrees, which is the perfect temperature for brewing coffee. In addition, it took longer to brew, destroying the rich coffee flavors further.
Ease of use
At first glance, the coffee maker seems like an advanced appliance that needs a manual. However, once you start using it, you realize it’s pretty easy to use. Simply pour your coffee grounds, add water and pour your cup of coffee.
And with its scaled semi-transparent window, you can always estimate the amount of water to add accurately. You can also pour a cup before brewing is finished by pressing the Grab-A-Cup Auto Pause button.
Features
We loved the fact that this coffee maker is fully programmable. It has auto-on and off features that allow you to schedule a coffee brew 24 hours in advance. This is one handy feature when brewing coffee for a large family because you don’t need to wake up too early.
What’s more, cleaning it is pretty easy because the filter basket is removable and dishwasher-safe. Regular cleaning ensures the coffee maker runs smoothly and the coffee tastes great.
Value
We found Mr. Coffee 12-Cup Coffee Maker slightly more expensive than comparable brands, but it certainly gives value for money. It’s programmable, has a scaled dual-water window, an on/off light indicator, and you can pour a cup of coffee mid-brew.
Final verdict
Mr. Coffee 12-Cup Coffee Maker is a solid buy for people with large families. It can brew up to 12 cups of coffee, has a straightforward on and off button and a removable, dishwasher-safe filter basket.
However, its all-plastic construction, long brewing time, and bland coffee flavor might be off-putting for some buyers.
